Happy New Year from FishWater Outfitters
We finished off 2021 with a great week of fly fishing in Charleston, SC! When the weather cooperates, this can be one of the best times of year for fly fishing the estuarine around Charleston, SC. The Redfish are schooling up for the colder winter months and when the tides and sunshine align, the sight fishing opportunities are excellent!
Throughout January and February, FishWater Outfitters will continue to target Redfish on fly around the low tides. We prefer to fish around 3 hours on both the falling tide and the incoming tide. This will allow us to pole our Hell’s Bay Boatworks skiff around in very shallow water while fly fishing for Redfish in Charleston, SC. Braden Powell and FishWater Outfitters are looking for not only the fish in our clear winter waters but also pushes or wakes and sometimes the smallest of dimples in the surface of the water will indicate a Redfish feeding. This time of year the Redfish are mostly feeding on small baitfish and we tie all of our own baitfish flies to imitate their diet properly.
If you’re visiting Charleston, SC for vacation or work, give FishWater Outfitters a call and we will take you out fly fishing in the beautiful waters surrounding Charleston!
Don’t forget to get your Ennis, MT fly fishing guides booked up for this upcoming summer! We still have availability from late June to the middle of September but the dates are filling up quickly!
